Our Holidays traditions !

Some of you know I am from Colombia and my husband from Utah so our Christmas traditions are a little bit different and mixed, my husband loves Colombia much or more than me 😁 so we decided to do a little of each culture in the Holidays. We want to share what we do as an American Colombian family. 🙂❤️

1. We celebrate thanksgiving ( Colombia does not have Thanksgiving) so I love this tradition and the opportunity to be able to thank for all the wonderful things that God has given to us. I love this day and not only because of that but because the food is absoluty delicious that day. On the other hand I had agreed to decorate Christmas (the tree and all those things) after thanksgiving with the idea of not losing that spirit of thanksgiving but this year we mixed all the spirits 😂😂😂 and decorate before so now we have thanksgiving and Christmas at home 😀

2. We celebrate the day of the candles (Colombian tradition) so usually on December 8 at night we put candles outside our house and we ask for wishes for the next year (yeees !! I am probably the only crazy woman that is placing candles in the door of our house that day 🙋🏻😂 with that cold) but we love this tradition, it connects us with a beautiful energy, hope and beautiful desires for our family.

3. The Christmas Novena (Colombian tradition and Catholic tradition I think ) so in Colombia is a tradition to do the novena,  sing and give delicious food 🤤 so here we decided to read something every night about Jesus life and make some colombian snacks for the nine days before Christmas.

4. On December 24 in Colombia we put music, dance, eat and open the presents at midnight 😁 here Christmas Eve is in family, have dinner and go to sleep early to open gifts on the morning of the 25th (so what we do is make a special dinner at Christmas Eve and dance for a little bit 😜 and the 25 we wake up early to open gifts 🎁❤️.

5. New Year so here the thing is hard 😩 in Colombia we are very united  (I am not saying that here not) but in Colombia it is a very special day to be in family and celebrate that we start a New Year together, but here in my experience we have not done to much, we try to make it as special as possible, pray and celebrate that we stay together and healthy and ready for a New Year so we made our own party 😍😂 everyone dress so fancy, I made some dinner and we try to wait for the new year but you know #momlife so I never reach to be awake until so late 😂.

Well for this month we try to focus a lot that it is a time to celebrate that we are together. That we have a savior who has given everything for us and it is a beautiful time to remember that great sacrifice or that love he has had for us , we try to teach sofi the importance of the family over the material and superficial that brings these dates so this is what we do in Christmas, how we celebrate having two different cultures and how we mix our traditions.

We hope you have a nice Holidays !!!
